Howell Lady Highlanders Basketball

Philosophy and Expectations
Our philosophy of high school sports is that through participation you become a better individual player, a better team player, a better person and it should be fun.

The following are our expectations for the teams this year:

  • Three (3) things that are more important than basketball are family, religion and education ... then basketball!
  • We expect the players to represent the community, Howell High School, their parents and families, and themselves with class at all times - on and off the court.  You need to be role models on and off the court.
  • We expect every player to respect their teammates (no jealousies, complaining about another player or cliques on our team).
  • We expect every player to respect your opponents; handshakes before and after the games.   No trash talk!
  • We expect every player to respect game officials; no complaining about calls or bad officiating (by no means is any player to receive a technical foul).
  • We expect players to respect their coaches and teammates.
  • If you have any questions about something, you need to speak to the coach or your captains and let them communicate to the coach.  You need to always demonstrate a positive and good attitude.
  • We expect every player to work hard and strive to improve in practices and games.   We will correct anything done incorrectly.
  • 3 D's = Desire, Discipline and Defense are paramount for a successful season!
  • Be ambassadors to get more fans in the stands.
